Wird mit Erstaunen wahrgenommen

Excellent but prefer a single tune 10 inch 78 rpm record

I like everything about the records except for one thing. I would prefer them as 10 inch SINGLE tune on each side. Just like a proper 78 from the 20s/30s. Unfortunately I won't be buying these mini LPs any more.

So Many Things to Like

First of all, 78rpm vinyl is an astonishing auditory experience, The closest releases in the past were the 45rpm issues of the late 1980s as CDs began to emerge as the dominating force. The bundle here is great to hear, experience, and watch on a turntable. Vince Giordano puts one in mind of the great Hal Roach soundtracks of Marvin Hatley, Miss Maybell croons my dad's favorite song ("Put Your Arms Around Me Honey") and the Lovestruck Balladders sound better each time I play it, and each time louder (need to etch an "11" on my volume dial). A bargain in a bundle, and one that'll outlive me or my wax cylinders!

Great music in my favorite format!

I am not going to comment on the actual music. As with pretty much everything Bryan and Rivermont release, I know I will enjoy a new recording and buy it even though I have never heard of the artists.

I am well acquainted with Mr. Giordano's recordings and have always loved them. These recordings are no exception.

I had never heard of Miss Maybell and Charlie Judkins and after hearing their selections, I am left wanting to hear more. Oops! I lied. I am going to comment on the music. The only other recording of Circus Days I have been exposed to, was the one by Haywire Mac (McClintock). I especially enjoyed the slower pace of this recording as a contrast to Mac's.

I will just say that I want more of the Lovestruck Balladeers. More mandolins, please!

The musicians probably feel that they said everything they had to say in the recordings as presented, and I know they say "always leave'em wanting more"...well, I want more! The only reason I can't give the bundle 5 stars IS because I want more. There are probably technical reason I am not aware of, but I see enough blank space on the records for another tune or song, or (my preference) extended versions of the songs as recorded. Three minutes may have been the limit for a recording on a 10" 78 in 1927, but with the advances we have almost a hundred years later, and the 12" format, I would guess you could easily fit 10-12 minutes on a side. Why not fill that "empty" space with more music?

Another minor quibble is that the spindle holes on the Giordano and Maybelle & Judkins records are enlarged and I have to carefully place the records on my turntable to get them centered properly (though my almost 68 year old ears cannot detect any distortion caused by the offset).

I could go on, but I'll stop here with a plea to buy these records in whatever format your equipment will support, and speaking of support, please know you will be helping Bryan and Rivermont release more new music..and that is what *I* want...more of this great music!

78 Bundle

Wonderful sounding stereo. Natural channel balance and not that fake "ping-pong" sound that some record companies did. Nice to hear this kind of music in true high fidelity. Let's see how much material you can put onto a 12" record, like a long play 78. Modern technology allows up to 35 minutes plus at 33 1/2 so you could put as much as 17 minutes at 78.
